The Goree All-Girl String Band

Under the direction of Ashley Brooke Monroe (Hamilton, Indecent ) Ruby starred as Mozelle in the 2017 New York Musical Festival production ofThe Goree All-Girl String Band. Based on true events, this piece told the story of six female inmates in a 1930's Texas state penitentiary who joined together to form a band and earn their freedom. Ruby was able to incorporate her instrumental capabilities into this performance, heading the band alongside Lauren Patten (Jagged Little Pill, Fun Home) onstage at Theater Row’s Acorn Theater.
