Box Clever

Most recently, Ruby appeared back onstage as the lead in the U.S. Premier of a two woman show from the U.K. entitled Box Clever. This piece, written by one of London’s brightest up-and-coming playwrights Monsay Whitney, offers a witty and scathing critique of the various ways in which social servicce systems, put in place to protect vulnerable women, can end up serving as impediments to their safety and survival. Wolf’s character Marnie struggles to protect herself and her four-year-old daughter from the obstacles standing in her way: ambivalent caseworkers, abusive partners, and a continual lack of vital resources, both monetary and material. It was officially Barrymore Recommended and ran through the 24th of February at Inis Nua Theatre Company.
